Relaxation Exercise: Journey On

Greetings all!

Prior to this exercise I had never truly understood the impact and effectiveness of relaxation techniques and the true power of mind over body. The power of suggestion can have an immense impact on how our bodies react to different things, and can also initiate queues from our mind to our body, which in turn, can activate responses to relax and heal our bodies.

During this exercise I experienced a great deal of relaxation, and I was amazed at how well this truly worked. I felt a wave of sensation travel from my abdominal region, up through my shoulders, down my arms, and to my fingertips. The blood flow created a warmth and tingling feeling, and eventually made my arms feel heavy. This was truly a unique experience, and has created an even more serious drive and determination to learn more about mind of body matters, and training of the mind.

  1. Hello Anna,
Great way to relax! What do you call this exercise? This also sounds like a form of mediation/ yoga. I think we all could use more training in training our minds. What do you think that we all can learn from this course to add to our wellness toward healing from this relaxation exercise? Great blog and keep striving for excellence!

    1. Sonya, this was the exercise we are supposed to do for our blog posts. The link is in the learning space tab.

  2. I was also slightly skeptical before performing this exercise. At first I felt slightly sick to my stomach when he was talking about the blood flow (lol), but once you start to feel really relaxed I was very surprised that this exercise did work. I am looking forward to trying it again.

  3. A. J. before the stress class (stress critical issues in management and prevention). I had never done this sort of thing before either. I was surprised at how well it works to relax the body. I actually really recommend that class if you want to learn more about what stress does and how to combat it. The book for that class was great too: Why Zebra's Don't get Ulcers.
