Welcome!
This is a blog that I have created in accordance with a college course that I am taking that focuses on wholeness and healing. While pursuing this healing process and creating wholeness within an individual, it relies on the integral approach to healing, wellness, and wholeness. We look at the major different elements that influence a person psychologically, emotionally, mentally, and physically.
I have a deep rooted passion for integral medicine because I believe that there are alternatives to modern medicine, and do not believe that the only way to cure illness and disease is to treat it with pharmaceuticals. I have done enough reading and listening to understand that in most cases, a drug created to treat one illness can cause 5 other issues. How is this helping a person heal or find wholeness and happiness? As drug treatments become more and more harmful, finding alternatives is a must for mankind.

I believe completely in what you have posted. A pill is not the cure all and is not the only option we have to heal ourselves. Humans have been around far longer than any pill and have been able to grow and heal mentally and physically for the majority of the time. It is a sad world we live in when so many people blindly follow western medicine like it is the only option. We as humans need to wake up and educate ourselves on the amazing healing possibilities available. Only then will we be able to make mindful decisions in which we can be proud of.
ReplyDeleteHi Niki!
DeleteThank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this topic! It truly is a sad state that this country is in; society relies so heavily on pharmaceuticals to heal their every ailment. A conversation I was having with my parents the other day was on this very topic. However, my dad also pointed out even the commercials on t.v. are getting so frustrating because every 4 out 5 commercials has to do with some sort of drug for every ailment or illness. In addition, my father also mentioned that the list of side effects is about 3/4 the length of the entire commercial. The side effects aren’t always minor either; most consist of nausea, headache, vomiting, dry mouth, and stomach cramps, but then there are those that cause heart disease and cardiovascular failure! People just don't seem to see or understand that by trying to quickly fix something very minor, and one that could be mended through natural remedies, they end up causing themselves 5 other major health issues.
I know that some people like to blame the doctors and physicians for this reliance on pharmaceuticals for the cure all, but I think there came a time when doctors kind of felt like they had their hands tied, because a patient would come into their office and demand something, and in order to prevent lawsuits, the doctor then hands out a prescription. I think that there needs to be a major medicine revolution!
Thank you, again, for your response, Niki!
